History

Spanning a history of more than 110 years and three generations, the Mayrsohn family has been a leader in the fresh fruit and vegetable business throughout the world. In 1899 young  Mayrsohn initiated the family in the Produce Business when he began importing fresh fruits and vegetables from Cuba into the New York market.

In 1947 Bernard (Barney) Mayrsohn followed his father's footsteps into the Produce Business, after serving in the U.S. Army during the second World War and graduating Cornell University, College of Agriculture. By 1959 Bernard was part owner and became president of the public company Prevor-Mayrsohn International with offices in New York Hunts Point Market and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

In 1982 Bernard and his son Mark Mayrsohn formed Mayrsohn International Trading Co., Inc., a corporation with offices and storage facilities in Miami, Florida and New York. Mark also graduated Cornell University, College of Agriculture; where he was elected president of the honor society, majoring in business and agricultural economics.

Today, Mayrsohn International Trading Co., Inc. remains one of the most recognized names and a leader in the world-wide import and export Produce Business. We enter the 21st Century poised for growth through the Internet and our strong customer and vendor relationships.
